***** 5 STARS ***** I have never cried this hard. EVER. Loved every second of this journey!By Michelle New�on December 15, 2015I didn't expect to make it through book three without scars. I knew this book was going to be a hard read. I was wrong. It was so much more than just hard.
You are given every piece of this story from the character. It is written in HER voice. Nothing is narrated. Nothing is shaped for the purpose of structure - it is the character you feel in everything. The crazy moments, the happy moments. Nothing about the word selection, phrasing exists without it being a part of the character. This is something that you'll come to realize as you go further into the story, but I do admit that it can be distracting, but I can't urge you to stick with it, because it is so worth it and it all comes together in such a genius way.
This is usually one of my sticking points with books. I want the character to feel 100% real and that means that their voice has to remain authentic.
We are US brings us to the closing of the story of Suzanne and Z. We've seen their struggle from page one and I was pulling so hard for these two to find their happiness. I won't go into the aspects of their past or even most of the details included in the conclusion. But I will tell you that I can't remember crying more during reading a book in my life. Both happy and sad tears were shed. The kind of crying that is silent, but leave your body shaking. The kind that freaks your husband the EFF out because he can't fix whatever is wrong with you.
One aspect of this story is the battle of depression. Now for Suzanne that battle did not come out of the blue. It has always been there. I think the way Sarah tackled this subject was done beautifully. This was a very tough part of the story for me to read for my own personal struggles and rarely do I come across a book that features this theme and come close to describing the way it feels. For me, this one hit pretty close to home and I broke apart completely during the scenes that unfolded during these events. But at the same time, it almost was healing as it sort of justified these foreign feelings that stay trapped in your head that you can never find the right words to describe.
There were so many parts of this book that tore me to shreds. But this was not all about those sad, devastating times. There were so many moments where I was so darn proud of Suzanne for everything she overcame and for how she pulled herself together. The journey from Her to Suzanne was amazing to watch.
Z, well. Can we just call him perfect? I loved watching him interact with her with such kindness and it broke my heart watching him be pushed to his limits. He loved her so much. He put up with all of her crazy and he just wanted to protect her and give her so much more than what she thought she was worth. It was a battle. Every. Darn. Day.
I always feel like the evil friend when I tell people they need to read this book. Because I know that it will push them to the breaking point. But the experience is so worth it. I have not walked away from a single book from this author that has not stayed with me. I may walk away from the book bruised, but it is always worth it. And these are characters, stories that I will never forget.
Be prepared to expect a wild ride. This is not a romance that is going to deliver hearts and flowers. But make no mistake, this is a love story. It is all about the love that is shared between these two people and how far you are willing to go for the person who owns your heart.
To the author: my first book of yours left me a ranting mess and you've done it to me over and over again and I keep coming back. And I will always continue to come back. Because I know you are going to give me a story that is always worth the pain and I wouldn't have it any other way..�
***** 5 STARS ***** LOVE THIS STORY!!!ByChristina Rogers�on January 12, 2016I stumbled upon this author and story a couple years ago and I am so thankful I took a chance and one-clicked. My words could never do this story justice. I am not a cryer, not in real life and never with books. I may get teary eyed on a rare occasion with the right story, but never in my life have I ugly cried like I did while reading this devastatingly beautiful story. These books brought out every emotion I posses. From heartache, to happiness and everything in between. There were even times I had enough of Suzanne's bs and was like enough already. There were so many times I was caught off guard and thought, "wow, never saw that coming." I love stories that shock me at every turn leaving me flipping pages like a maniac so I can find out what happens next. I literally couldn't put any of these books down. Not even for a much needed sip of water or bathroom break. They're just that good. I realize this kind of story isn't for everyone. There's some seriously awful s*** from Suzanne's past. But for me I'd have to say this is by far my favorite read ever. I will NEVER forget this story. Thank you Sarah for giving us a little piece of you in the form of Suzanne and Z. Brilliant!

Sarah you are my new crush.
You finished this series with a bang.
I loved the first two and loved this even more.
Susanne and Z are just.........F@cked up.
I mean they are. It's the truth.
These two trying to make it together is fantastic.
But they seem to be failing.
When things are good they are great, but when they go bad it's destruction.
If you are looking for a read that takes you into the mind of someone with mental health issues this is it. It seemed so real...too real.

My Daughter won't be HER !!

The final book in the series and clearly the hits on Suzanne and Z , just keep on coming !!
It was depressive in the sense that I wanted to scream , " God !!!! Give them a Break !!"
Suzanne , I think broke down more in this book than previous ones, because after tasting happiness, it's more tough to get back to emptyness.
When faced with a challenge , Her first instinct is to abandon everyone and hide in her comfortable cloak of misery. This what she does in the beginning, till Z catches her. She's trying to step back and away from it all. She feels so miserable that she conveniently blames it on her self and sets to take the easy way out.
But you can't quit life till you're breathing...right !
With the help of Mack ,Kaylas and Z ( Gawd, this man is a saint !!) She again starts to stand back up and in few months grabs life with her hands, she finds happiness again and falls pregnant. Little bumps on the road but she births a beautiful baby girl.
But a witch (Elizabeth) is waiting in wings to destroy her life
why can't some people just roll over and die and do us all a favour !!!!
The baby is snatched from her and as expected, suzanne's delicate mental balance upsets and she lashes out, yet again at everybody.
Z meanwhile fights the authorities , her bitch of a mother, cops, child services and gets back their daughter.
Suzanne truly becomes a mother, stepping away for Mackenzie's sake , so she doesn't have to be abandoned.
The emotions run like a river in this book. Happiness, depression, frustration, anger, undying love and biggest of all - Acceptance of Suzanne of Z's love !!
Phew ! Finally !!

Have you ever bought a book and just stared at it completely afraid to start it? Well this was that book. When I first started this series it was listed as a standalone and that was the cruelest thing ever. In all the things that ever was, ever will be. EVER. I died a little at the end of book one. I barely survived book two. I didn’t expect to make it through book three without scars. I knew this book was going to be a hard read. I was wrong. It was so much more than just hard.
Before I get into the story and all the feelings, I have to explain some of the aspects of what is expected when you open up yourself to the experience this author is going to take you on.
You don’t just read this book from the outside looking in. You are given every piece of this story from the character. It is written in HER voice. Nothing is narrated. Nothing is shaped for the purpose of structure – it is the character you feel in everything. The crazy moments, the happy moments. Nothing about the word selection, phrasing exists without it being a part of the character. A Satisfying Finale to an Amazing Series

This third book in the "I Am Her..." series further explores the lives of Suzanne and Z. Though this is a stand-alone story, I highly suggest that readers read the first two books to get a thorough understanding of Suzanne's tragic upbringing and Z's role in helping her to overcome her appalling past.
Tragic is the perfect word to describe Suzanne's life. Years of abuse--physical, mental and emotional--by people charged with caring and protecting her has left her battling her inner demons. She aches for happiness, longs for normality; but she is a broken woman.
This time around, life's pressures prove too difficult to cope with and Suzanne is ready to give up. The first half of the story deals with Suzanne's struggle to gain self-worth and embrace the unconditional love of her amazingly patient and devoted husband, Z. While the story is surely well-written and compelling, I have to admit that I grew frustrated by Suzanne's insecurities and senseless decisions. So many times, I had to suppress the urge to strangle her while at the same time, I felt the need to just hug her.
It was emotionally draining, but not in a bad way, mind you. You see, you have to understand Suzanne and her fragile state to truly appreciate her dilemmas. And I have to say, I truly love this crazy, screwed-up character that Sarah Ann Walker has ingeniously created.
The latter part of the story, in my opinion, is where Suzanne faces her ultimate test. Situations push her patience and sanity to the limit. I won't give anything away, but I feel that the author did a superb job wrapping up this bittersweet, emotional story. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey. Suzanne and Z (and even Mack and the Kaylas) will always be some of my all-time favorite characters.
Excellent job, Ms. Walker. This series is unforgettable.
