Mayoritariamente se trata de gente muy joven, hombres y mujeres de apenas veinte anos. De esta veintena de personajes dos caeran en combate, dos seran tomados prisioneros, dos se convertiran en heroes homenajeados, dos acabaran siendo, fisicamente, unas piltrafas. Varios de ellos reciben la guerra con los brazos abiertos pero aprenden a aborrecerla; algunos la aborrecen desde el primer dia; otro la ama de principio a fin. Uno de ellos perdera literalmente la razon y dara con sus huesos en un hospital psiquiatrico, otro no llegara a oir ni un solo disparo. Y asi sucesivamente. Pese a todas las diferencias en cuanto a destino, roles, sexo y nacionalidad les une el hecho de que a cada uno de ellos la guerra les robo algo: la juventud, las ilusiones, la esperanza, la humanidad la vida. La mayor parte de estas veinte personas viviran experiencias dramaticas y atroces; sin embargo, lo que se pretende enfocar es el lado cotidiano de la guerra.
